Fair Project Friday
Alex Gruber is EGGxcited to show off his meat poultry and goat projects this year at the Calumet County Fair. He has been involved in both these projects for 3 years and his 4-H club, the Chilton Tip Top 4-H Club of Calumet County 4-H, for 4. He had always wanted to show goats and turkeys, but watching his siblings show was also a large motivator in getting him started in these projects.
There is a lot of work that goes into preparing for the fair. Every day Alex has to feed them and make sure all his animals have clean, fresh water. He also has to wash all his animals right before the fair and make sure that they have clean bedding. He loves to watch how they grow all the way to the end result of seeing how they compare to the other animals in the competition.
Alex’s favorite part of the fair is getting to show off all of his animals and seeing all the other projects that are brought there. The Calumet County Fair runs Thursday, August 29th – Monday, September 2nd, over Labor Day weekend. Alex will be showing his meat poultry and goats on Friday, August 30th and will be selling them in the market animal auction on Sunday at noon. Good luck Alex!
